A drone strike has hit oil infrastructure at Russia’s Black Sea port of Taman, triggering a large fire at a key energy export hub, according to Veniamin Kondratyev, the governor of Krasnodar Krai, on January 21.

He said four storage tanks containing petroleum products caught fire on the territory of the terminal following the strike.

The exact time of the attack has not been officially disclosed. However, local media reported that air raid sirens were activated in the area at around 5:00 p.m. local time. Authorities have not yet identified the type of weapon or drone used in the strike.

The attack follows a similar incident roughly a month earlier. In late December, drones targeted the same port overnight, damaging a berth, a pipeline, and vessels docked at the facility at the time.

The Taman transshipment complex, operated by Tamanneftegaz, is among the largest port facilities in the Black Sea region. Its tank farm, used for storing oil products and liquefied gas, has a total capacity exceeding one million cubic meters.

The maritime terminal at Taman serves as a critical export gateway on the Black Sea, handling shipments of oil, gas, ammonia, grain, coal, and other commodities bound for international markets.

Earlier, a drone struck the deck of the oil tanker Delta Harmony while it was anchored near the Russian port of Novorossiysk.

Delta Harmony was reportedly waiting to dock at a Russian oil terminal operated by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), a key export route for Kazakh oil.
