Former Drudkh Drummer Mykola Sostin Killed in Action Defending Ukraine
Ukrainian musician and drummer Mykola Sostin, known as Amorth and renowned for his role in the legendary black metal band Drudkh, was killed in action while defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion. He was 39 years old.
This was announced on November 4 by Oleksii Kovalev, guitarist of the band Zavod (Заводь).
“One of the best drummers of Ukraine, an ambassador of joy on Earth, a part of the history of Ukrainian black metal, and the band SOOM — Kolya Amorth — has fallen in battle.”
Throughout his musical career, Amorth played in several Kharkiv-based bands, including the black metal band Zavod, and the metal band Soom.
Mykola was part of Drudkh from 2004-2006, participating in the creation of “The Swan Road” and “Blood in Our Wells” albums as a drummer, and “Autumn Aurora” as a keyboardist, which brought the band listeners from all corners of our planet.
In September, Serhii Pavlichenko, a Ukrainian folk multi-instrumentalist, was killed in action in the Pokrovsk direction of the Donetsk region.
