French authorities have investigated reports of a drone attack on Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s residence in Valdai and found no evidence to support the claim.

The information was reported by Le Monde on December 30, citing sources close to French President Emmanuel Macron.

“There is no credible evidence to substantiate the serious accusations made by Russian authorities, even after cross-checking information with our partners,” the source told Le Monde.

A French official further noted that the continuation of Russian attacks may be seen as “an act of defiance toward [US President Donald] Trump’s peace plan,” adding a political dimension to the Kremlin’s recent rhetoric.

Le Monde also pointed out that Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, during a press briefing on December 30 attended by AFP journalists, did not provide any material evidence of the alleged drone strike.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that claims that Ukraine struck the Valdai residence of the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, were false and were being used to undermine emerging diplomatic momentum.
