The "Freedom of Russia" Legion fighters, who are supporting Ukraine’s defense, carried out an operation in November that destroyed a key railway line used by the Russian forces in the Zaporizhzhia region.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) on December 19, the explosion took place between the temporarily occupied villages of Vesele and Novouspenivka in Zaporizhzhia.

This action disrupted one of the Russia’s critical logistical routes in the area.

The operation led to the derailment of a 2M62 mainline diesel locomotive and 25 freight cars. As a result, all traffic on that railway branch was halted.

“Following the successful operation carried out by the intelligence team, an airstrike by Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed military cargo that had started to accumulate nearby while waiting for the restoration of movement,” the HUR explained.

In a separate operation, fighters from HUR's special unit “Prymary” carried out a precise strike on December 13 as part of ongoing operations in the region. The operation led to the destruction of two key Russian radar systems: the 39N6 Kasta-2E2 and the 96L6 radar, both of which are integral to the S-400 Triumf air defense system.

The intelligence agency noted that these strikes significantly impaired Russia's air defense and surveillance capabilities in Crimea, weakening their control over the region's airspace and defense infrastructure.

Earlier, Ukrainian military intelligence conducted a targeted operation in temporarily occupied Crimea, successfully destroying a MiG-29 fighter jet at the Kacha airbase and inflicting damage on a radar installation near Simferopol.
