Ukrainian Intelligence Destroys Russian MiG-29 Fighter Jet in Bold Crimea Strike, Video

Ukrainian military intelligence forces reportedly carried out a precision operation targeting Russian military infrastructure in temporarily occupied Crimea, destroying a MiG-29 fighter jet at the Kacha airbase and damaging a radar installation near Simferopol, on December 4.
According to Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR), a special unit known as “Prymary” was responsible for the attack, which struck a multirole MiG-29 fighter stationed at the Kacha military airfield on the western coast of Crimea.

In the same operation, the “Irtysh” airfield radar complex near temporarily occupied Simferopol was also hit.
The MiG-29 is a Soviet-designed multirole combat aircraft, capable of both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. Though originally developed in the 1980s, the jet remains a core component of Russia’s tactical airpower, often modernized with improved avionics and weapon systems. It is regularly deployed in patrol and interception roles over occupied Ukrainian territory.
The intelligence agency stated the operation is part of a broader campaign to degrade Russian air defense capabilities across occupied Crimea. This includes previous strikes targeting air defense missile systems and surveillance radars.

Ukraine’s HUR highlighted that this is the first confirmed destruction of a Russian combat fighter jet on the Crimean peninsula by Ukrainian intelligence forces. The event follows an earlier strike on September 21, 2025, when the same unit reportedly destroyed two Russian Be-12 “Chaika” anti-submarine aircraft based in Crimea.
Earlier in October, Ukraine’s 92nd Assault Brigade destroyed a Russian Kasta-2E2 low-altitude radar system using a domestically produced loitering munition.
According to the Serhii Prytula Charity Foundation, the strike—guided by a Shark reconnaissance drone—targeted the radar’s antenna array, disabling the system as part of the “Jaws” crowdfunding initiative to weaken Russian air defenses.
