Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the opening of the new prosthetics center Human Titans”, based at one of the city hospitals. The center will provide modern prosthetics and rehabilitation for wounded soldiers and civilians, Klitchko wrote on his Telegram channel on August 27.

“The idea for this center came during my visit to Berlin about two years ago. We visited the Bundeswehr Military Hospital, where Ukrainian defenders were recovering, and decided to establish a similar facility in Kyiv,” Klitschko said.

The project was made possible with support from Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner, the charity Life Bridge Ukraine, and ONUR GROUP Ukraine. ONUR GROUP Ukraine covered most of the renovation costs—over 29 million UAH (about $707,000)—while the Kyiv city budget contributed 11.2 million UAH (about $273,000).

Equipment purchased and provided by Life Bridge Ukraine began operation in June, and specialists at the center have already started producing prostheses. The facility is also equipped with a 3D scanner to manufacture high-precision prosthetic components, Klitchko writes.

In its early operations, the center provided prosthetics to 10 veterans from across Ukraine. Six of its technicians were trained at facilities in Berlin, while about 60 Ukrainian soldiers with lower-limb amputations have also received prosthetics through the Bundeswehr military hospital program.

Mayor Klitschko expressed his gratitude to Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner, Janine von Wolfersdorf and her team at Life Bridge Ukraine, and ONUR GROUP Ukraine for supporting the realization of this important project.

Previously, it was reported that a therapeutic garden for veterans will be launched in Kyiv, offering a unique recovery space for those impacted by war.

The initiative is led by Ukraine’s Ministry of Veterans Affairs in partnership with VDNG and developed under the National Strategy for a Barrier-Free Environment, championed by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
