The German government has denied a claim made by US President Donald Trump that Patriot missile shipments from Germany to Ukraine are already underway.

According to SRF on July 17, Trump stated that missiles for the Patriot air defense systems were currently being shipped from Germany to Ukraine. However, Germany’s Ministry of Defense says it has no knowledge of such a transfer.

“I cannot confirm that anything is currently en route. I’m not aware of any such shipment,” a Defense Ministry spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format is scheduled for Monday, July 21. The goal of the meeting, he said, is to find solutions “to enable the fastest possible delivery of Patriot systems to Ukraine.”

The statement follows Trump’s recent pledge to intensify pressure on Russia and accelerate military aid to Ukraine in response to continued missile and drone strikes. He previously claimed Ukraine would receive 17 Patriot systems, though he did not specify whether this referred to complete batteries, individual launchers, or missiles.

Previously Reuters, citing sources, reported that European leaders only learned of Trump’s announcement to arm Ukraine during his press conference, and that no agreements have yet been made regarding who will supply what weapons.
