Germany has expanded its air policing operations over Poland in response to Russian drone incursions, with operations already underway, The Guardian reported, citing German defense ministry spokesperson on September 12.

The spokesperson explained that aviation units achieved operational readiness the evening before, ensuring continuous coverage with two alarm rotas in place to monitor the airspace 24/7. Both rotas are fully qualified for the mission, providing constant protection against potential aerial threats.

Previously, it was reported that the recent Russian drone incursion into Polish airspace has exposed a major gap in NATO’s defenses.

Poland had also vowed to send its military representatives to Ukraine to learn how to shoot down drones, marking a new step in defense cooperation between the two neighbors.
