Germany will provide Ukraine with additional IRIS-T air defense systems under a multi-year delivery plan. The agreement was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint briefing with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, RBC-Ukraine reported on June 12.

President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Germany for its continued military support and emphasized the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.

“We now understand the delivery schedule. I won’t go into all the details, but the plan spans the next three years. In any case, this is very important support for us,” Zelenskyy stated.

He clarified that the timeline does not imply the war will last three more years, but underscored the need to protect Ukrainian civilians with reliable and advanced air defense systems.

“I’m grateful that we have a clear understanding of this project’s implementation over the next three years,” he added.

Earlier, Germany signaled it may provide Ukraine with up to €9 billion (almost $10 billion) in military assistance in 2025. The announcement was made by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv.

Pistorius stated that Berlin had originally allocated €4 billion (approximately $4.32 billion) for Ukraine this year, but raised the figure to €7 billion (about $7.56 billion) in recent months. An additional €1.9 billion (around $2.05 billion) is now under consideration, pending final approval by the Bundestag.
