Russia Reportedly Uses Aerial Bomb Against Odesa for First Time Amid Massive Missile and Drone Attack

Late on August 31, a large-scale aerial attack struck the city and region of Odesa, with local authorities reporting multiple explosions across the area.

The assault involved high-speed airborne targets, standard and jet-powered drones, loitering munitions, missiles, and guided aerial bombs launched from both northern directions and the Black Sea, according to NV.

Initial reporting confirms that civilian infrastructure, specifically energy facilities, came under direct strike. Air defense alerts prompted local officials to urge residents to remain inside shelters as additional swarms of incoming targets moved toward the coastal city of Chornomorsk and Odesa.

Ukrainian air defenses tracked jet-propelled drones arriving from the southern parts of the region heading toward Mayaky.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and local media outlets documented the incoming threats as the late-night attack unfolded. As the strike unfolded, air operations registered various weapon systems entering regional airspace, including Banderol loitering munitions, missiles, guided aerial bombs, and attack drones.
