Russia Attacks Ukraine With Oniks, Iskander Missiles, and 267 Drones Overnight

Russian military forces launched an anti-ship Oniks missile, an Iskander-M ballistic missile, and 267 attack drones against Ukraine overnight.

The strikes began during the evening of August 28 and continued into the morning of August 29. The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that air defense units intercepted or jammed 233 of the incoming unmanned aerial vehicles across northern, southern, eastern, and central regions of the country as of 8:30 a.m.

The air assault involved various types of weaponry launched from temporary occupied territories and Russian regions. Russia launched the Oniks and Iskander-M missiles from temporarily occupied Crimea.

The 267 long-range drones included Shahed suicide models, jet-powered variants, Gerbera units, S8000 Banderol systems, and Parodiya decoy drones. Launch locations included Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk inside Russia, alongside temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiyske in Crimea.

Ukrainian military assets deployed aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems teams, and mobile fire groups to defend the airspace.
