Global Operation Takes Down Pro-Russian Hacker Network Attacking Ukraine and NATO

Law enforcement from over a dozen European countries, along with Canada and the United States, have taken down the infrastructure of NoName057(16), a pro-Russian hacker group responsible for cyberattacks against Ukraine, the EU, and NATO states.
Europol announced the joint operation on July 16, confirming that authorities dismantled more than 100 computer systems linked to the group across the globe.
Germany issued six arrest warrants, charging two individuals with organizing NoName057(16)’s activities. They, along with another suspect, have been placed on the international wanted list. Most of the identified hackers remain in Russia.

The operation involved agencies from the Czech Republic, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United States. The investigation also received support from Belgium, Canada, Estonia, Denmark, Latvia, Romania, and Ukraine.
NoName057(16) initially targeted Ukraine, but later expanded its cyberattacks to EU and NATO countries.
Earlier, Cyber specialists from Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence carried out a large-scale cyberattack on Gaskar Integration, one of Russia’s key drone manufacturers, according to hromadske sources in Ukrainian intelligence.
The attack, reportedly executed in coordination with the Ukrainian Cyber Alliance and the BO Team group, crippled the company’s servers, internal systems, and research facilities.
