Head of the Russian-Occupied Berdiansk Council Injured in a Car Explosion
A car explosion in occupied Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region, injured Vasyl Nechet, the head of the occupational city’s council, reported Petro Andriushchenko, an advisor to the mayor of Mariupol on December 24.
The explosion occurred in the yard of a residential building, according to Mykola Matvienko, acting head of the Berdiansk city military administration. “He was taken to the hospital, but his condition remains unknown,” Matvienko added.
Nechet, a former director of a community center in Berdiansk, became a collaborator after the city’s occupation in early 2022. He joined Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party and was appointed head of the occupation council, helping establish the pro-Russian administration.
Ukrainian authorities designated him an accessory to crimes committed by Russian authorities against Ukraine and its citizens.
Earlier, two Russian military personnel, including a high-ranking general overseeing Russia’s chemical warfare forces and his aide, were killed in an explosion in Moscow.
