Italy will not allow Ukraine to strike the territory of Russia with transferred weapons. Her position on this issue has not changed, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said before the meeting of the Heads of Foreign Affairs of the European Union in Brussels.

"Each country decides for itself," Tajani said, "we have sent mostly defensive weapons, now we are about to send the new SAMP/T battery which is defensive and cannot be used on Russian soil. We reiterate that we are not at war with Russia, NATO is not at war with Russia so Italy's position remains to use our weapons inside Ukrainian territory. Then the other countries decide as they deem appropriate."

Earlier this week, it was reported that Ukrainian authorities in Washington are preparing to present to the US a list of potential targets in Russia for possible strikes with American long-range weapons.
