Japan Grants $52.8M to Ukraine for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Recovery

Japan transferred approximately $52.8 million in grant assistance to Ukraine as part of the newly initiated Phase 4 of the Emergency Recovery Program.
These funds will be directed toward critical priorities such as demining, energy infrastructure repair, and the restoration of water supply systems.
Ukraine’s Ministry for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development confirmed on December 30 the receipt, stating that the aid will significantly contribute to public safety and enhance basic living conditions.
Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kuleba noted that this support will help communities become more resilient amid ongoing challenges.
Japan has also approved an additional national budget, enabling the launch of Phase 5 of the program. This next phase will include continued grant funding and technical support via the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In a recent bilateral meeting, officials reviewed joint infrastructure projects, the JUPITeR platform (Japan-Ukraine Platform for Infrastructure Reconstruction), and preparations for a new mission of Japanese companies to Ukraine planned for March.
