Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the possible deployment of US peacekeeping forces in Ukraine would be a decision for Washington and could be confirmed by US President Donald Trump. The President made the remarks while speaking to journalists on December 30.

He stressed that any such move would involve American troops and therefore fall solely under US authority.

“These are US forces, and therefore it is America that makes such decisions,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that the issue is being discussed both with President Trump and with members of the so-called Coalition of the Willing , noting that Kyiv would welcome such a deployment.

“Of course, we are discussing this with President Trump and representatives of the Coalition of the Willing. We would like this. It would be a strong position in terms of security guarantees,” Zelenskyy stated.

Previously, French President Emmanuel Macron had announced that France will host a meeting of the so-called Coalition of the Willing in Paris in early January, where participating countries are expected to finalize their concrete contributions to Ukraine’s security framework.
