Macron: Paris to Host “Coalition of the Willing” Talks on Lasting Peace and Security for Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will host a meeting of the so-called Coalition of the Willing in Paris in early January, where participating countries are expected to finalize their concrete contributions to Ukraine’s security framework, as stated in a post on X on December 29.
Macron added that European leaders are making progress on security guarantees for Ukraine following talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump.

Macron stated that he joined several European leaders in a discussion with Zelenskyy and Trump before holding a separate conversation with the Ukrainian president.

Previously, it was reported that Macron and Russian leader Vladimir Putin were expecting to hold a phone call as soon as this week to discuss a possible peace deal in Ukraine, according to The Telegraph.
Putin had “expressed readiness to engage in dialogue” with Macron, The Telegraph reported, citing comments by spokesman Dmitry Peskov to Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti.
