Kharkiv’s Largest Printing House Rebuilt With Howard Buffett’s Help After Russian Strike

The Factor-Druk printing house in Kharkiv, destroyed during Russia’s large-scale missile attack on the region on May 23, 2024, has now been rebuilt.
This was announced on March 20 by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko on her Facebook page, where she shared photos of the newly restored facility.
The reconstruction was made possible with the support of American philanthropist Howard Buffett.
US philanthropist Buffett reached out to Serhii Polituchyi, the owner of the Faсtor-Druk printing house, shortly after Russia’s attack and offered to help source the necessary equipment and contribute to covering the costs, Svyrydenko noted.

“Mr. Serhii, your resilience is truly inspiring. Thank you for everything you do. And my heartfelt thanks to Howard Buffett — it’s a great blessing for Ukraine to have a friend like him,” Svyrydenko wrote.
Factor-Druk has been in business for 28 years. Approximately 90% of all Ukrainian publishers and a few foreign ones printed their books there. After the Russian strike on Kharkiv’s Factor-Druk printing house, more than 50,000 books were destroyed.
On January 22, a second underground school was opened in the Kharkiv region, in Pechenihy. The villages has been targeted by Russian air attacks, leaving 750 children without access to offline education.
