White House special envoy Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump’s adviser Jared Kushner will travel to Paris on January 6 to take part in a summit focused on security guarantees for Ukraine as part of a future peace deal, Axios reported, citing a White House official on January 5.
The meeting will bring together leaders from around 30 European and Western countries as part of the so-called “Coalition of the Willing,” a group seeking to shape concrete security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire.

Ukrainian officials say clear and credible guarantees from the US and Europe are essential for any agreement that could involve territorial concessions in Russian-occupied parts of the Donbas, according to Axios.
Security guarantees were also the central topic of talks between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week.

According to US and Ukrainian officials, Trump said afterward that Ukraine would receive strong security guarantees—the first time he has publicly acknowledged that such guarantees must be part of any deal.
Zelenskyy is expected to arrive in Paris following a major reshuffle within Ukraine’s leadership, including the appointment of Kyrylo Budanov as head of the Office of the President, one of the most powerful positions in Kyiv. Budanov is widely regarded in Ukraine as a popular wartime leader, Axios wrote.
Previously, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he had a “very good” and substantive conversation with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, focusing on concrete steps toward ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, in a post on his official Telegram channel.
