Zelenskyy Holds Talks With Kushner and Witkoff on Ending Russia’s War Against Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he had a “very good” and substantive conversation with Steve Witkoff, the special representative of US President Donald Trump, and Jared Kushner, focusing on concrete steps toward ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, in a post on his official Telegram channel on December 25.
Zelenskyy said the talks addressed key working details and produced several ideas that could contribute to a lasting peace. He emphasized that Ukraine is working “24/7” to ensure that proposed documents and decisions are realistic, effective, and reliable.

“We discussed some important details of the work. There are good ideas that can work for the common good and lasting peace. Real security, real recovery, real peace–that is what we all need in Ukraine, in the United States, in Europe, and in each of our partners who are helping us. I hope that our Christmas agreements and ideas discussed today will be useful,” Zelenskyy wrote.
The meeting was attended by senior Ukrainian officials, including Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and other members of Ukraine’s diplomatic and security team.
Zelenskyy said it was agreed that Umerov would continue discussions with Witkoff and Kushner later the same day, stressing the importance of not losing any time or opportunity that could bring peace closer.
“May our conversation today be another step towards peace,” he wrote.
Zelenskyy also said he asked Witkoff and Kushner to convey Christmas greetings to President Trump and the Trump family.
Previously, it was reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy began talks with US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Berlin.
Zelenskyy stated in a post on Telegram that Ukraine was preparing for the meeting with the American side and working “carefully on every point of every draft,” adding: “The main thing is that all steps we agree with our partners can really work for guaranteed security. Only reliable guarantees will work for peace.”
