Latvia and Ukraine Strengthen Cybersecurity Ties with New Memorandum
Latvia and Ukraine have signed a memorandum of understanding on cybersecurity. The document establishes a legal framework for cooperation and outlines the use of technical and human resources in this area.
The memorandum provides for the exchange of information on cybersecurity threats and the creation of bilateral communication channels to enhance incident alertness. It also covers cooperation in education, research, and development, as well as joint public events.
The memorandum was signed by Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds and the head of Ukraine’s State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, Yurii Mironenko. Sprūds highlighted that this cooperation is crucial for Latvia, as Ukraine’s experience in cybersecurity will help Latvia refine its strategies to improve resilience and readiness in both peacetime and crisis situations.
Additionally, Latvia will allocate €20 million in 2025 to support an international drone coalition aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Prior to his visit to Kyiv, Sprūds announced the dispatch of the largest batch of drones from Latvian manufacturers to Ukraine.
