Lithuania Reaffirms Support for Ukraine With Aid and Reconstruction Efforts

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a delegation from Lithuania’s Seimas, led by Speaker Saulius Skvernelis, during a visit to Kyiv on January 20. This marked Skvernelis’s first visit to Ukraine since being elected as Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed several key topics, including continued support for Ukraine, the preparation of a new EU sanctions package, the strengthening of military-technical cooperation, and the implementation of joint projects in the defense and industrial sectors.
President Zelenskyy also highlighted Lithuania’s leadership in advocating for Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and NATO.
Skvernelis reaffirmed Lithuania’s commitment to providing military and humanitarian aid, supporting the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers, and contributing to the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“We view peace as the complete liberation of Ukrainian territories, including Crimea, holding those responsible for war crimes accountable, and Ukraine’s full membership in NATO and the EU,” Skvernelis stated.
Earlier on January 20, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense confirmed the delivery of a new shipment of military aid to Ukraine.
