Macron Initiates Global Ceasefire During the 2024 Olympics

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced his proposal for a ceasefire in major world conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, during the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. The French President is seeking the support of Chinese leader Xi Jinping in this initiative.

In an interview with French radio station RMC, Emmanuel Macron emphasized that he will make every effort to achieve an "Olympic ceasefire," specifically referencing the war between Israel and HAMAS, Russia's war against Ukraine, and the war in Sudan.

The French President expressed confidence in the successful opening ceremony of the Olympics in July while acknowledging that backup plans are in place should the security situation necessitate them.

The 33rd Summer Olympic Games, the 2024 Olympics, will be held in Paris from July 26th to August 11th. The Olympic torch relay will begin in April.
