The Moscow military court has sentenced a Russian activist who organized humanitarian aid for Ukraine and helped evacuate civilians from the war zone to 22 years in prison, RusNews reported on June 20.

Nadezhda Rossinskaya, also known as Nadin Geisler, led a group called “Army of Beauties,” which, according to The Moscow Times, claimed to have assisted around 25,000 people in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine between 2022 and 2023.

Geisler was convicted of publicly calling for actions against state security, assisting terrorist activities, and treason.

According to prosecutors, in August 2023, she allegedly posted on Instagram urging people to donate money to the Ukrainian Azov unit. Rossinskaya maintains that she did not write or publish the post in question.

Earlier, the prosecutors had sought a 27-year prison sentence for Geisler.

“They want to give me 27 years, the same as Darya Trepova, which is the longest sentence given to a woman in Russia,” Geisler said in comments about the requested term. “I plan to ask the judge to release me, of course, but if he goes along with the prosecution’s request, I’ll ask for 27 years and one day, just to set a new record in Russia.”

On June 9, it was reported that a Russian court has sentenced two Ukrainian servicemen to 24 and 26 years in prison, respectively, on charges of allegedly killing residents of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic.”
