Musk Cutting Ukraine’s Starlink Could Trigger International Crisis, Polish Official Warns

Polish officials warn that if American tech billionaire Elon Musk decides to cut off Ukraine’s access to the Starlink network, it could trigger a major international crisis.
This was stated by Polish Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski during an EU Council meeting in Warsaw, Euractiv reported on March 5.
The Minister added that unilaterally terminating a corporate contract with an EU member state would spark “a major international relations crisis.”
“I cannot imagine a situation in which a business relation between Poland and a U.S. company would be suddenly interrupted,” Gawkowski said.
In February Poland announced that it has been covering Ukraine’s Starlink subscription and will continue to do so.
Reuters previously reported, citing sources familiar with the matter, that U.S. has raised the possibility of cutting Ukraine’s access to the Starlink satellite internet system as a tool to pressure the signing of the critical minerals deal.
“Ukraine runs on Starlink. They consider it their North Star,” said the source. “Losing Starlink would be a massive blow.”
On February 24, it was revealed that Poland had ordered an additional 5,000 Starlink terminals for Ukraine, further enhancing frontline communication capabilities.
