The Netherlands will provide an additional $272 million to a NATO-led initiative designed to quickly supply Ukraine with US-made weapons, Dutch defense minister Ruben Brekelmans announced ahead of a meeting of EU defende ministers in Brussels, according to SkyNews on December 1.

The funds will go toward the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List, a mechanism allowing European and Canadian NATO members to finance the purchase of American weapons and military equipment for Ukraine. The goal is to give Kyiv rapid access to systems already available in US stockpiles.

“On a daily basis, we see heavy air attacks in Ukraine. The only way to help them in short notice is by delivering out of American stock,” Brekelmans said.

The Dutch contribution follows a joint $500 million package announced last month by Nordic and Baltic countries, part of a broader push among European allies to increase support as Russia continues large-scale strikes across Ukraine.

Additionally, Ukraine and the Netherlands have agreed to begin joint drone production, formalizing the partnership through an agreement signed by the defense ministers of both nations.

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced the development on Twitter on December 1.

“A new milestone: Ukraine and The Netherlands are going to produce drones together in both our countries,” Brekelmans wrote.

He noted that he and Ukraine’s Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal signed the cooperation agreement under the “Build With Ukraine” program.

“This strengthens our joint security, resilience and innovation,” Brekelmans added.

Earlier, a Czech volunteer organization began a nationwide fundraising initiative, coordinated by the group Skupina D, to acquire CHARLIE ONE “drone-hunter” interceptor systems for Ukraine. The effort aims to reinforce Ukraine’s air defenses and improve the protection of cities and critical infrastructure from Russian strikes.
