Over 1,000 Bombs, 1,400 Drones in a Week as Russia Shuns Peace Talks, Says Zelenskyy

Over the past week, Russian forces carried out more than 1,000 aerial bomb strikes, nearly 1,400 drone attacks, and continued missile strikes on Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an official message on his Telegram channel on August 11.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces “do not reduce their pressure and do not count their losses.”
He also noted that in the past 24 hours alone there were 137 combat engagements along the front line, with Ukraine’s 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade in the Pokrovsk sector of Donetsk region eliminating 209 Russian troops between August 4 and 10.
“We are defending the lives of our people and strengthening our air defenses. This is what the situation in the war looks like, and diplomacy must reflect it,” Zelenskyy said.

He stressed that Russia’s prolongation of the war warrants stronger global pressure and that Moscow should receive “no rewards or positives” for refusing to end the killing.
“Concessions do not persuade a killer. But strong protection of life stops killers,” Zelenskyy said, thanking Ukraine’s defenders, emergency services, and international partners for their support.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation warned of a surge in Russian propaganda in late August aimed at weakening Kyiv’s position ahead of peace talks.
Tactics include portraying Ukraine as unwilling to negotiate, questioning Western unity, undermining sanctions, and spreading fake POW statements.
