Pentagon Confirms January Ramstein Meeting to Support Ukraine’s Defense
The US Department of Defense has confirmed that Secretary Lloyd Austin will travel to Germany on January 7 to participate in the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, known as "Ramstein," as announced on January 2.
The meeting will focus on practical steps to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities in the short and long term, according to Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh.
During a briefing, Singh emphasized the importance of coordinated international efforts to support Ukraine.
"Together with defense ministers and military leaders from around the world, Secretary Austin will concentrate on providing practical support that enhances Ukraine’s ability to defend itself and address future challenges," she noted.
Singh also reaffirmed the United States' continued commitment to backing Ukraine amidst ongoing challenges. Additional details about the Secretary's agenda are expected to be released in the coming days.
Previous reports suggest the upcoming Ramstein meeting will include discussions on new measures to support Ukraine, including its integration into the North Atlantic alliance.
