"No Interest for Moscow," Says Russia's UN Envoy on US Ukraine Proposals

The team of US President-elect Donald Trump has so far offered nothing "interesting" to Russia regarding the situation in Ukraine, Russia's Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, according to Russian state media.

“These are unformed, vague signals of readiness for something. We often hear the term 'freezing the conflict.' [Vladimir] Putin most recently, on December 19, clearly outlined the conditions under which we are ready to discuss not freezing but fully resolving this conflict, provided our legitimate security interests are respected. However, nothing from the signals coming from the incoming US administration suggests anything of interest to us,” Nebenzya stated.

Nebenzya also noted that Ukraine has recently sent "signals of certain agreements," but these cannot be taken seriously.

“The question is, when will President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for instance, finally take the step of sitting down at the negotiating table, and at what line of contact this will happen. The longer it takes, the worse the conditions will be for him; he has been warned about this for some time. The decision lies with him,” Nebenzya concluded.

Previously, Russia has confirmed it will not participate in the upcoming Second World Peace Summit, even if officially invited, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
