Russia Refuses to Attend Second World Peace Summit, Says Russia’s FM Lavrov
Russia has confirmed it will not participate in the upcoming Second World Peace Summit, even if officially invited, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
In an interview with Russian state media TASS on December 30, Lavrov criticized the event, labeling it as irrelevant in light of Ukraine’s demands for the restoration of its territorial integrity along 1991 borders and the withdrawal of Russian troops from occupied regions—key elements of President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula.
“In October, meetings were held to prepare for the second Peace Summit. We understand that the organizers aim to invite Russia, seemingly to present us with some ultimatum,” Lavrov stated.
He added Moscow finds no value in attending such an event under these circumstances. “I have explained many times that Russia has no intention of participating in this event, even if we receive an official invitation,” he added.
Earlier, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya claimed that Russia will not consider any proposals to freeze the war in Ukraine.
