Precision Strike in Zaporizhzhia—Ukraine Destroys High-Value Russian S-300 Air Defense System

On August 2 Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a precision strike on Russian military targets in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on August 4.
As a result of the operation, a Russian S-300 air defense system was destroyed using long-range firepower.
“The elimination of this target significantly reduces the enemy’s long-range strike capabilities and limits its ability to shell the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and civilian infrastructure in the region,” the General Staff stated.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, strike once again demonstrated the effectiveness and accuracy of Ukrainian units in detecting and destroying critical enemy assets, including those located in temporarily occupied territories.

The General Staff emphasized that Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to systematically dismantle key components of Russia’s military potential—undermining the enemy’s ability to conduct combat operations, maintain control over occupied territories, and support its occupation forces.
“Ukraine will continue its struggle until the complete withdrawal of Russian occupying troops, the restoration of territorial integrity, and the establishment of a just and lasting peace,” the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated.
Earlier, it was reported that a drone strike overnight on August 4 sparked a fire at the dispatcher building of the Archeda railway junction in Frolovo, Volgograd region, Russia. The incident, confirmed by open-source imagery and reported by Russian media, is part of a broader pattern of strikes targeting critical railway infrastructure across the country.
