Putin Unwilling to Engage in Talks With Scholz on Ukraine, Says German FM

Vladimir Putin is not ready to talk with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about a peaceful settlement of Russia’s war in Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Friday, October 11.

"Ukraine is ready for a just peace," Baerbock emphasized.

German Foreign Minister criticized Putin for rejecting proposals for peace talks.

"He refuses to accept peace and every day sends another signal in favor of war and destruction. These days, he is no longer even prepared to speak to the German Chancellor on the phone," she said.

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is expected to meet with Scholz later today.
