Rheinmetall Delivers All Pledged Skynex Air Defense Systems to Ukraine Amid Russian Aerial Threats

Rheinmetall has confirmed that the company has completed the delivery of all four Skynex air defense systems to Ukraine, as pledged by the German government, according to Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall, quoted by the German Aid to Ukraine project.
These systems are currently operational in western Ukraine, particularly safeguarding power plants from Russian aerial threats, including loitering munitions and cruise missiles.
The Skynex system is designed for close and short-range air defense, offering a comprehensive solution with radar, battle management systems, and anti-aircraft guns.
Its effectiveness is highlighted by its ability to intercept threats with minimal cost, making it an essential tool in countering Russia’s drone and missile attacks, Papperger stated.

Despite initial delays in deliveries, the systems are now fully deployed, with the last two systems arriving as planned. Papperger also mentioned that future deliveries remain uncertain, with no additional systems confirmed at this stage.
In addition to the Skynex systems, Rheinmetall is preparing to deliver the Skyranger 35, a new armored anti-aircraft system that will further bolster Ukraine’s defenses. The first Skyranger system is set to arrive by the end of the year, financed by an unnamed EU country using funds from frozen Russian assets.
Previously, it was reported that Ukraine is training combat engineers to operate the German-made Biber bridge-layer, a Leopard 1–based vehicle designed to help armored units cross rivers, ditches, and obstacles in minutes. Instructors say mastering the “Beaver” requires precision and discipline but is achievable within weeks thanks to intensive, hands-on training, according to Ukrainian outlet ArmyiaInform.
