German defense manufacturer Rheinmetall has signed a contract with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense to deliver modular propellant charges for 155mm artillery systems. The agreement, valued at approximately €9 million, was made in the fourth quarter of 2024, with delivery scheduled for January 2025.

According to Rheinmetall, the contract includes several tens of thousands of modular charges designed to enhance the performance of modern artillery. These charges are loaded separately from shells, allowing adjustments for different firing ranges.

Rheinmetall is a leading global producer of large-caliber munitions and advanced propellant systems. The company plays a key role in supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities amid ongoing Russian aggression.

Earlier this year, at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin, Rheinmetall and Ukrainian officials signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding strategic cooperation. This agreement outlines future collaboration between Rheinmetall and Ukraine’s defense sector, with the goal of strengthening long-term defense capabilities.

In addition to supporting Ukraine, Rheinmetall continues its defense production initiatives across Europe. For instance, the company has committed to delivering half a million modular 155mm charges for Spain’s Ministry of Defense, with completion expected by late 2025.

Additionally, Rheinmetall plans to establish a 155mm ammunition production facility in Lithuania by mid-2026, catering to artillery systems used by NATO allies.
