Russia Accidentally Drops 250-Kilogram Bomb on School in Belgorod Region
A Russian military aircraft dropped a 250-kilogram bomb on a school in the village of Bykovka, located in the Yakovlevsky district of Russia’s Belgorod region, 45 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
This was reported by the local outlet Pepel and the Telegram channel Astra on November 20.
According to the sources, the incident occurred on the night of November 19. A 250-kilogram UMPB air bomb "detached unexpectedly" and struck the roof of a three-story school building, as confirmed by Astra, citing emergency services in the region.
The bomb is currently located in one of the offices on the third floor.
There was no evacuation from the "Bykovska School." Police and territorial defense personnel have arrived at the scene. There have been no reports of injuries from the bomb's fall.
One of the teachers working in Bykovka told Agency that the school switched to remote learning on November 19. However, the school has not issued any official statements regarding the incident.
According to Astra’s estimates, there have been at least 150 reported cases of Russian munitions falling unexpectedly on Russian territory or occupied Ukrainian territories in 2024. Another FAB-250 air bomb fell on November 15, approximately 1.5 kilometers from the village of Bely Kolodez in the Shebekino urban district. No casualties or damage were reported.
These guided air bombs are used by Russian forces to target areas, including the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, as well as the city of Kharkiv.
