Russia Adapts North Korean Rocket Launcher to UAZ “Bukhanka” Truck, Video

Materials circulating on Russian pro-military Telegram channels shows troops mounting a North Korean–built 107 mm Type 75 multiple rocket launcher—a licensed copy of Soviet 12-tube Type 63 system—onto UAZ-3303 “Bukhanka ” light trucks, as Ukrainian intelligence states that Moscow has deployed some quantities of North Korean artillery systems on the frontlines, as as reported on June 16.
As seen in photos the rocket launcher is secured to a fixed platform with no provision for large-angle horizontal traverse. Preparing the system for vehicle mounting required minimal modification: the trailer wheels were removed, and the entire launcher assembly was simply welded onto an added support structure on the truck’s chassis. The lightweight 107 mm Type 75 MLRS delivers a 12-rocket salvo with an effective range of approximately 8.5 km.
After mounting, crews conducted elevation and azimuth checks before preparing the system for firing, underscoring Russia’s turn to lightweight, mobile platforms as it seeks to replenish dwindling artillery stocks and complicate Ukrainian counterbattery efforts.
Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate, stated in a recent address that the Russian army has received significant quantities of tube and rocket artillery from North Korea. Among these transfers was the Type 75 system, which saw limited use in its self-propelled form; consequently, it is likely that Russian forces will increasingly install it on automotive platforms.

Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence revealed that Moscow had received some 120 North Korean long-range artillery systems—including 122 mm D-74 howitzers, 107 mm Type 75 MLRS, 240 mm rocket launchers, and 170 mm Koksan self-propelled guns—deployed across multiple front-line sectors, with millions of additional rounds supplied to sustain firing, and warned of a potential escalation in artillery duels as crews adapt to the new systems.
