A Russian drone strike targeted Mykolaiv on January 21, with seven drones launched at the city, according to Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration. One of the drones struck a residential building, causing damage and fires.
“There is damage to multi-apartment buildings, and fires have broken out. All services are working. At the moment, there are two injured as a result of the attack,” Kim stated.
Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych provided additional details about the ongoing response efforts.
“The fire in an apartment of a multi-story residential building is being extinguished. We are evacuating residents. Hot meals and blankets are being organized for the residents. There is also destruction of a private house. A woman has been rescued from under the rubble,” Senkevych said.
Emergency services are working at the affected sites, and local authorities are coordinating assistance for those impacted by the attack.
Previously, it was reported that over the course of one week, Russian forces launched approximately 550 strike drones, nearly 60 missiles of various types, and more than 660 aerial bombs against Ukraine.
