Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on the central district of Zaporizhzhia early Saturday, January 18, causing significant damage to infrastructure and leaving ten people injured, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.
The missile strike targeted a key infrastructure facility in the city, partially destroying an administrative building on an industrial site. Residential buildings and private vehicles were also damaged.
Initially, Fedorov reported six injured individuals, with three men and two women in moderate condition and one woman in critical condition. Later updates confirmed the number of injured had risen to ten. Medical assistance was provided on-site to two individuals, while eight others, aged between 28 and 69, were hospitalized. A 48-year-old woman remains in critical condition.
The attack on Zaporizhzhia is part of a broader wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine. In Kyiv, a missile strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district resulted in four fatalities and three injuries, according to Kyiv Military Administration head Timur Tkachenko. The strike also damaged a water supply pipeline in the area.
