Russian forces launched an attack on a maternity hospital in the city of Zaporizhzhia on February 1, injuring at least six civilians, according to the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov.

The strike occurred around midday local time. Fedorov stated via his official Telegram channel that two women were injured while undergoing medical examinations at the facility. As of 12:15 p.m., the total number of injured had increased to six.

The type of munition used in the strike has not been officially confirmed. However, roughly an hour before the incident, Ukraine’s Air Force issued an alert regarding the launch of guided aerial bombs (referred to as KABs) in the direction of Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region.

Photos released by local authorities show significant damage inside the hospital, including shattered windows, collapsed ceiling panels, and smoke-filled corridors.

According to a separate statement from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration on February 1, Russian forces conducted 383 strikes over the course of the previous day, targeting 26 settlements in the region.

Two civilians—a 57-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man—were reported injured in attacks in the Zaporizhzhia district. Officials also received 48 reports of damage to residential buildings, civilian vehicles, and public infrastructure.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Ministry of Health reported that over 2,300 medical facilities had been damaged or destroyed by Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022. At least 305 of those facilities were completely leveled, and over 100 ambulances were either destroyed, damaged, or captured. The Zaporizhzhia region was among the hardest hit.
