Russian-installed Crimean leader Sergei Aksyonov said on September 21 that Ukrainian drones struck the grounds of the Foros sanatorium on Crimea’s southern coast,

“According to updated information, at the moment… three people have been killed, 16 injured,” Aksyonov wrote on Telegram on September 22.

Russia’s Defense Ministry separately claimed that its air defenses intercepted 22 drones between 16:00 and 20:00 on September 21—16 over the Black Sea and three over Crimea.

Russia’s Defense Ministry stated the attack took place around 19:30 Moscow time and involved drones “armed with high-explosive warheads.” It described the incident as a terrorist act against a “resort area.” Local officials told RBC that a village school in Foros was damaged, with its assembly hall destroyed.

Independent Ukrainian media highlighted the significance of the location. The Kyiv Independent described the Foros Sanatorium as a luxury resort situated near four state-owned dachas used by Russian political elites.

The outlet cited Aksyonov’s remarks that “several facilities” at the resort and the school were damaged, and referred to claims from the Crimean Wind Telegram channel that “very important guests” were present at the time.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine’s military intelligence used unmanned systems to destroy a Podlet-K1 radar and a Nebo-M module in occupied Crimea, degrading Russian air defenses.
