Russia Launches Combined Missile and Drone Assault on Kyiv After 2-Month Break, Sparking Fires
On November 13, Russian armed forces launched a combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv for the first time in the past 73 days.
According to preliminary information, the assault likely involved Kh-101/55 cruise missiles launched from at least four Tu-95MS aircraft, KN-23/KN-24/Iskander-M ballistic missiles, and drones of the Shahed/Geran/Herbera/Parodiya types.
The air raid siren in the capital sounded at around 6:30 am due to the threat of Shahed drones. At the same time, cruise missiles were already on course toward the Kyiv region. As the missiles approached Kyiv, Russian forces simultaneously launched a ballistic strike on the city, which concluded with another wave of drones.
The air attack on Kyiv lasted over two hours.
A 48-year-old man sustained head injuries in the Kyiv region due to falling debris, and a fire broke out in a warehouse in the Brovary district.
As of 10:30, there is no information regarding damage or casualties in Kyiv.
The Kyiv City Military Administration announced that power shortages may be implemented as a precautionary measure as Russia continues targeting energy infrastructure in the lead-up to winter.
"The Russians have stockpiled cruise missiles and continue to do so for the winter. The use of strategic aviation confirms this," stated Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). He emphasized that "all enemy plans are known and understood, and Ukraine will counter them."
