Russia Launches Widespread Drone and Missile Attacks on Ukraine, Injuring Nine People
On the morning of January 28, Russian forces launched an attack on multiple Ukrainian regions, including Odesa, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Kyiv regions, using attack drones and a missile. The attacks injured four people.
Odesa region
Odesa and neighboring areas were attacked by attack drones and a missile. According to the Head of the Odesa Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, the air defense forces successfully intercepted the missile. However, debris from the downed drones caused damage to the windows of four residential high-rises and five cottages.
In one of Odesa’s residential courtyards, ten cars caught fire. Additionally, a grain warehouse sustained damage during the attack.
“As a result of the drone attack, four people were injured. A 91-year-old man was hospitalized, while the other victims received medical assistance on-site,” Kiper wrote on his Telegram channel.
Kharkiv region
Russia attacked the Kharkiv region with drones causing damage to infrastructure and housing in different areas and injuring 5 people, according to the Governor of the Kharkiv Region, Oleh Syniehubov.
In the Kharkiv district, within the Rohan community, a Shahed drone crash caused damage to four private houses. Two people were injured, a 62-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man.
In Kharkiv’s Novobavarskyi district, a Shahed drone strike damaged a gas pipeline and five cars. Two people experienced acute stress reactions, a 59-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl.
In the Kupiansk district, in the village of Kindrashivka, a 61-year-old woman was injured due to shelling and has been hospitalized.
Kyiv region
In the Kyiv region, Russia’s drone attack ignited a fire at a vintage car museum, engulfing an area of 600 square meters.
According to the Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, preliminary reports indicate that nine vehicles were destroyed in the hangar, while 27 others were damaged.
“The attack also caused damage in three other districts, damaging two private houses, three non-residential buildings, and three vehicles,” Kalashnyk wrote.
Cherkasy region
As a result of the nighttime Russian attack on Uman in the Cherkasy region, an infrastructure facility was damaged causing power outages.
The Uman Mayor, Iryna Pletnyova, reported that energy workers are working to restore power supply estoring heating to households.
On January 18, Russian forces launched a drone and missile attack on the capital Kyiv, killing three people and injuring three others. Shortly afterward, the capital experienced a water supply outage.
