Russia Ready to Continue War in Ukraine “As Long As Needed,” Says UN Envoy

On May 30, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, said that the Kremlin would consider a ceasefire only if Ukraine halts its mobilization and the West stops supplying weapons.

He rejected the idea of a 30-day truce, calling it “another attempt to mislead.”

According to Nebenzya, such a pause would benefit Ukraine by giving it time to regroup and rearm.

“We are not satisfied with a situation that would allow the Kyiv regime to catch its breath, lick its wounds, and stop the collapse of the eastern front,” Nebenzya said.

In a closing statement, Nebenzya made it clear that Russia is prepared for a prolonged war.

He said the Russian army is capable of continuing military operations “for as long as needed” in order to, as he put it, “resolve once and for all the root causes of the conflict.”

Previously, it was reported that during a visit to Kyiv, US Senator Lindsey Graham indicated that the United States may soon take additional steps to increase economic pressure on Russia, and cautioned that China could also face consequences over its ongoing trade with Moscow.
