Russia Sends 2,000 Reindeer Hides to Frontline Troops Amid Mounting Winter Shortages

The administration of Salehard, a city in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District in Russia, has announced the dispatch of humanitarian aid to support Russian troops fighting in Ukraine. The cargo includes 2,000 reindeer hides camouflage and warmth, The Moscow Times reported on October 15.
According to the city’s press release, the hides are supposed help mask military positions from thermal imaging and provide warmth in harsh field conditions.
In addition to the hides, vehicles such as the “Bukhanka” van and “Niva” cars will be sent to the frontline. The shipment is organized by veterans of the so-called “Combat Brotherhood.” The goods will first be delivered to the Rostov region, then transported to the combat zone, The Moscow Times writes.

This delivery is part of a wider competition among Russian parties, public organizations, and regional authorities to send large quantities of aid to the frontlines, where there is a severe shortage of even basic supplies.
The situation has drawn attention to the systemic lack of proper equipment, as evidenced by a report from the pro-war “Tactical Medicine Courses” channel, which revealed that Russian soldiers are receiving medical supplies dating back to 1977, showing the issues with outdated and inadequate humanitarian shipments.
Previously, it was reported that Russian forces on the Pokrovsk front are experiencing an acute shortage of equipment, according to the ATESH resistance movement.
Agents embedded in the 1442nd Motor Rifle Brigade report that the situation has become so dire that commanders are ordering troops to confiscate vehicles from civilians, disrupting logistics and increasing battlefield losses.
