A Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile strike hit the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv on the morning of November 1, killing one person and injuring at least 15 others, according to regional authorities.

Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, said the missile was equipped with a cluster warhead. “Unfortunately, one person has died. As of now, 15 people have been injured with varying degrees of severity,” Kim said.

Among the injured is a child, whose condition doctors assess as moderate. The attack damaged a gas station and several vehicles, Kim added.

Emergency services from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) were deployed to contain fuel spills at the site using water and foam to prevent ignition. Specialists in chemical safety and explosives disposal were also involved in clearing the area.

Medical workers and Red Cross volunteers provided first aid to the wounded. Photos and videos published by Kim showed significant damage to a civilian gas station, which he described as “a regular Saturday morning station.”

The Russian military has repeatedly used Iskander-M ballistic missiles against civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. The system is capable of carrying both conventional and cluster warheads, which disperse multiple submunitions over a wide area, increasing the risk to civilians.

Update: The number of people injured in the Russian missile strike on Mykolaiv has risen to 19, according to regional governor Vitalii Kim. Among the wounded is a nine-year-old girl. Five victims received outpatient care, while the others remain hospitalized.

Earlier, on October 31, Russian forces launched a massive artillery strike on Kherson, killing two civilians and injuring eight others, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The attack damaged commercial facilities and triggered fires, while prosecutors opened a war crimes investigation under Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.
