Russian troops deliberately targeted a children's hospital in Kherson with artillery shelling this morning, resulting in casualties among patients and medical staff.

The attack occurred around 9:20 am on October 29. According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the artillery fire struck the hospital while young patients, their parents, and personnel were inside the facility.

Initial reports indicate that the artillery strike wounded nine individuals, a count that includes four children and three medical personnel. The final toll of the injured is currently under review.

The hospital facility suffered extensive destruction, and the explosive force also damaged nearby buildings. Prosecutors and investigators are on site, documenting the destruction and systematically gathering evidence of this recent war crime committed by Russia.

“The shelling of civilian objects, particularly healthcare facilities, constitutes a gross violation of international humanitarian law,” the statement read.

This attack follows a similar Russian strike earlier this month targeting critical healthcare infrastructure. On October 6, Russian forces once again attacked the city of Sumy, causing a fire on the roof of a perinatal center. This occurred while patients and newborns were inside the facility.

The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, noted that 11 infants, 35 patients, and 120 personnel were in the perinatal center at the time of the strike. Due to effective action, all individuals were safely transferred to the designated shelter without harm.

Earlier, during a missile and drone attack launched by Russia on Kyiv, medical teams from the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt” and the Heart Institute of Ukraine proceeded with a rare and demanding series of organ transplant procedures.
