Russia Targets Maternity Hospital in Odesa, Killing Two, Injuring 11

A Russian overnight strike damaged a maternity hospital in Odesa, forced the evacuation of 81 people, and left two people dead and 11 others injured, according to ArmyInform on March 28.
The agency reported that the attack also hit apartment buildings, private homes, and infrastructure sites across the city.
Also roof of the maternity hospital was damaged, and emergency crews evacuated patients and staff as firefighters worked under repeated air raid alerts.

The service noted that damage was also recorded at the local television center, as well as to critical infrastructure and vehicles. Fires broke out at several sites but were later extinguished.
Preliminary figures indicate that 11 people were wounded, including a child.
The State Emergency Service stated that psychologists from the agency and the National Police were deployed at the scene as rescue operations continued.
Responders from the State Emergency Service, the Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Ukraine, and the rescue diving service were involved in the aftermath response.
Another strike on Odesa on March 20 also disrupted port operations and damaged grain-carrying vessels flying the flags of Palau and Barbados while they were docked, again putting Black Sea export routes at risk.
Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration, Oleksii Kuleba, reported that both ships remained afloat after the attack, though two people were injured and received medical assistance.
Kuleba also noted that the vessels were loaded with grain, underscoring that repeated strikes on port infrastructure extend beyond Ukraine’s coastline and directly threaten food shipments bound for global markets.
The attack followed another recent strike on Odesa’s ports that killed one person and injured at least five others, supporting Russia’s practice of pressure on the city’s shipping and logistics hub.
