Russia Targets Residential Building in Sumy Region, Casualties Reported
On January 4, Russian forces carried out an airstrike in the Sumy region, using a guided aerial bomb (KAB) against a residential building in the Svesa community of Shostka district, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
Preliminary reports indicate that two children and one adult have been injured. Rescue operations are ongoing, with officials expressing concerns that individuals may still be trapped under the rubble.
The airstrike destroyed one section of the multi-story residential building, causing significant structural damage. Emergency response teams are currently conducting search and rescue operations in an effort to locate and assist any potential survivors.

Earlier, on November 26, 2024, a Russian missile strike in Sumy killed two people and left one potentially trapped under debris, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The attack, which targeted a service station, also damaged a nearby building and kindergarten.
