Russian Attack on Kyiv Leaves Dozens Wounded and Parts of City Without Power

Russian forces launched a massive overnight attack on Kyiv on October 10, injuring at least 12 people, including two children. Eight victims were hospitalized, while four others received outpatient care.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the updated casualty figures.
He said parts of the capital, particularly the city’s left bank, were left without power and partially without water supply following the strikes.
Energy company DTEK reported that repair crews are working to restore electricity, prioritizing critical infrastructure.
“As soon as the security situation allows, technicians will assess the extent of the damage to restore power to all homes as quickly as possible,” the company said.

The State Emergency Service (SES) reported that debris from drones and missiles caused fires and destruction across several districts.
In the Pecherskyi district, debris hit a residential building, triggering a blaze. Rescuers evacuated 20 people, nine were injured, and five were transferred to medical teams.

In the Podilskyi and Desnianskyi districts, debris landed on open ground without causing fires or significant damage.
Preliminary reports indicate that Russian forces attacked Kyiv using a combination of ballistic missiles and strike drones.
Earlier, leaked internal documents from Russia’s state defense conglomerate Rostec revealed that Moscow has been importing and testing Chinese-made electronic warfare systems to counter Ukrainian drone attacks, with some units reportedly already deployed.
According to the files, the systems were trialed at the Alabino training range and later placed on combat duty at Shaykovka airfield, where they “gained combat experience” on August 21, 2023—during which “a drone was detected and suppressed at a distance of 2 kilometers.”
