Russian Diplomats Will Not Attend Munich Security Conference, Russian Foreign Minisrty Confirms

Russia announced on February 14 that its officials were not attending the Munich Security Conference, stating they had not been invited.
The statement contradicts claims by US President Donald Trump that American officials could engage with Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the event.
“As you know, Russian officials are not invited to the Munich conference,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters. “TThis decision was taken a few years ago… So there will be no representatives of the foreign ministry or other official Russian structures and bodies. I can tell you this for sure.”
The Ukrainian government confirmed on February 13 that no direct talks with Russia are planned at the Munich Security Conference. Ukrainian Presidential advisor Dmytro Lytvyn stated that any future discussions with Russia must first be coordinated with the United States and European partners.
